I just discovered this book, Pax, today on Twitter. It looks absolutely adorable.
Pax, by Sara Pennypacker, will be available on February 2, 2016. I’m not sure I can wait that long for it! Here is the book’s description:
From bestselling and award-winning author Sara Pennypacker comes a beautifully wrought, utterly compelling novel about the powerful relationship between a boy and his fox. Pax is destined to become a classic, beloved for generations to come.
Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day, the unimaginable happens: Peter’s dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild.
At his grandfather’s house, three hundred miles away from home, Peter knows he isn’t where he should be—with Pax. He strikes out on his own despite the encroaching war, spurred by love, loyalty, and grief, to be reunited with his fox.
Meanwhile Pax, steadfastly waiting for his boy, embarks on adventures and discoveries of his own. . . .
I’m a big fan of animal literature, especially when it comes to foxes (of course!). This looks like a touching tale and the early reviews from pre-readers are great. The target audience, according to Amazon at least, is 8-12 years old.
This is the type of book I tend to read most often, and is probably the target audience for the novel I am slowly working on. That, and since the story-line centers on a fox, makes this a must own for me! This looks like a classic in the making.
This is definitely going on my wish list and will be in my paws as soon as I can get a copy! I’ll be sure to post a review when I’m done.Share This:
